Kevin Rice, LCSW, has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois and a Master of Social Work and a Master of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Noted for his expertise in crisis assessment including critical incident debriefings and mass disaster crisis intervention, Kevin is a sought after speaker for training in the field of crisis intervention. As the clinical supervisor of a psychiatric mobile response team and designated to complete involuntary psychiatric commitments, Kevin completed and supervised countless assessments, working collaboratively with local law enforcement. Additionally, he conducted extensive state hospital interviews of mentally disordered patients, the state-hospital-committed criminally insane, and sexually violent predators. His experience in the forensic mental health field combined with his unique, casual style of interviewing contribute to his effectiveness in eliciting sensitive information, drawing sound diagnostic conclusions, and providing compassionate support. Kevin’s professional memberships include the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, National Association of Social Workers, and the American Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Services. In addition to his work with Odin and Associates, Kevin maintains a private practice in Monrovia, CA. and volunteers as a crisis counselor for the American Red Cross. A hobbyist writer, Kevin has penned a number of articles, including an account of his experience as a Red Cross crisis counselor deployed to Florida during the hurricanes of 2004.
